The results of a 2016 IU Indianapolis staff survey showed that 33 percent of the staff do not currently have a mentor or coach for professional development, and, of that group, more than half wanted someone who could fill that role.
To aid staff with their professional development, IU Indianapolis has developed and implemented a staff mentoring program designed to increase job competencies, assist with career development, enhance engagement, and raise overall job satisfaction. The program is designed to be flexible to ensure optimal program results.
One-on-one mentoring creates an opportunity to expose participants to rich experiences and unique expertise that will enhance both the mentee’s and mentor’s understanding of various topics, techniques, and skills that foster positive professional and personal growth.
